About The Project

Surrounded by open skies and leafy ridgelines, this Mount Samson property provided the perfect setting for a pool that’s as practical as it is striking. Designed for a family of competitive swimmers, the brief was clear from the beginning. The pool needed to support early morning training, provide space to unwind, and feel completely at home within the landscape.
Stretching 25 metres in length, with an additional 10-metre swim-out zone, the pool’s form is purposeful and minimal. Softened by subtle step highlights and a sprayed Pearl interior, the water takes on a clear, shimmery tone. Magnesium sanitisation was chosen for its health benefits and low maintenance, keeping the water gentle on skin and eyes—even with heavy daily use—while also allowing the backwash to be repurposed for localised watering.
The surrounds were finished with Harmaa marble pavers. A drop-edge profile defines the coping, while 800×400 paving flows through more than 130 square metres of outdoor space. Retaining walls were added to frame the area and manage site levels, along with frameless glass fencing to preserve the view.
Although the result looks seamless, the site brought challenges behind the scenes. Highly reactive soil conditions required us to install screw piers beneath the structure. Careful planning and open communication with the client helped us navigate each step. Their trust and involvement made this complex project feel grounded and collaborative from start to finish.

The outcome

The space is now used daily. For laps, for floating, and for letting time slow down. The client told us they were proud of the outcome and glad to see every detail come together. It’s a pool that works hard but never forgets to rest.
